Relationship and Sex Education
Curriculum Statement
The Governors at St. Hugh’s Catholic Primary School have adopted the ‘Journey in Love’ programme to support the non-statutory Relationships and Sex Education throughout the school. The programme of study is authentic to the teaching of the Catholic Church.
At the heart of Christian faith is love. This means that we have to link every aspect of our being, from birth to death, with love. The ‘Journey in Love’ programme has at its source, the belief that we are made in the image and likeness of God.
A Journey in Love
In each year group, an aspect of the mystery of love is explored. The children are encouraged to marvel at the wonder and beauty of God’s love. They take part in a series of tasks, activities and reflections which focus on physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development.
