Design and Technology Curriculum Statement

Children will design and make products that solve real and relevant problems. They will consider their own and others’ needs, wants and values. They will acquire a broad range of subject knowledge using maths, science, computing and art to help them. Children will learn how to take risks; they will become resourceful, innovative and enterprising. They will evaluate past and present design and technology to develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world. We aim to enable the children to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world.

Design & Technology Progression Map

Year 5

We explored how we could make structures using pulleys and axles.

Year 1

We designed, made and evaluated a fruit salad. We learned the names of the fruit, sliced and chopped the fruit, tasted it and then evaluated it. The fruit salad tasted delicious!

Year 2

We explored which type of vehicle will be suitable to take Teddy on holiday and chose the best ones to help us design and make our own.
